Drawing of Town Hall Birmingham Music Festival 1834
Description
Drawing of Town Hall during Birmingham Music Festival held on the 7-10th October 1834.
This was the very first time the Birmingham Music Festival was held at the newly built Town Hall, previously staged at the insufficient St. Philip's Church.
When the inhabitants of Birmingham, and especially those who took an interest in the welfare of the Infirmary and of the Triennial Meeting by which it's funding was reliant upon realised that a larger venue was necessary, they applied to Parliament for leave to erect a Town Hall. The building you see today is this very Town Hall.
