This ticket is for a gig played by Eric Clapton and his band on 5th August 1976 at the Odeon Theatre New Street Birmingham.

This concert has gone down in history but for all the wrong reasons. Clapton turned up at the theatre drunk and during a break in the performance began a racist tirade for which he has since apologised but it cannot be forgotten.

While Clapton’s music continues to resonate, this dark chapter is a reminder of the struggle against racism and the need for reflection and to uphold the fight for equality.
