In early 64 there was an adventure. Myself and my mates had just become mods. And we came to the Town Hall and we were surrounded by a complete audience of rockers and teddy boys, and they were staggered we were there, but actually there was no trouble. and we went to see the support act of Gene Vincent, the great rock and roller in a leather suit with his gammy leg grasping the microphone to a sellout crowd. And at the end he sang Be-Bop-a-Lula, a great tribute, great anthem. The whole crowd sang with him and it was very emotional, 1500 teddy boys and rockers singing Be-Bop-a-Lula. And we sat on the cheap seats behind the huge organ. And the main act was Little Richard, the great rock and roll and rhythm and blues singer.
