{"id":38313,"date":"2025-12-07T23:11:53","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T23:11:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/birminghammusicarchive.com\/?post_type=tnc_col_174_item&#038;p=38313"},"modified":"2026-01-26T16:05:52","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T16:05:52","slug":"drawing-of-town-hall","status":"publish","type":"tnc_col_174_item","link":"https:\/\/birminghammusicarchive.com\/index.php\/publications\/drawing-of-town-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"Drawing of Town Hall Birmingham Music Festival 1834"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Drawing of Town Hall during Birmingham Music Festival held on the 7-10th October 1834.<\/p>\n<p>This was the very first time the Birmingham Music Festival was held at the newly built Town Hall, previously staged at the insufficient St. Philip&#8217;s Church. <\/p>\n<p>When the inhabitants of Birmingham, and especially those who took an interest in the welfare of the Infirmary and of the Triennial Meeting by which it&#8217;s funding was reliant upon realised that a larger venue was necessary, they applied to Parliament for leave to erect a Town Hall.
