Baaba Maal was born in in 1953 and is a Senegalese singer and guitarist and percussionist. Maal sings primarily in the Pulaar language and promotes the traditions of the Pulaar-speaking people, who live on the Senegal River in the ancient Senegalese kingdom of Futa Tooro.
