Gerry and the Pacemakers were a Merseybeat group from Liverpool popular in the 1960s. Managed by Brian Epstein they had early success and helped to form the Merseybeat sound and were recorded by George Martin. They were the first act in the UK to reach the top of the singles charts with their first three releases.
