Band/Performer/Event Mark Knopfler
Mark Knopfler OBE was born in Glasgow in 1949. He was the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of the rock band Dire Straits and was raised in Newcastle. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential guitarists of all time.
After Dire Straits split he pursued a solo career as well as forming other bands such as the Notting Hillbillies. Knopfler was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Dire Straits in 2018.
