Venue Holy City Zoo (Subway City - Tunnel Club)
The Holy City Zoo, known for its Bowie and Roxy Music type of audience was based under the railway arches at 27 Water Street in Birmingham. It was once owned by ex-Aston Villa player and former TV commentator Andy Gray amongst others. Bands who played at the Holy City Zoo include local band Duran Duran in 1980, The Eurythmics in 1981 and another local band, New Romantic’s 'Fashion'. Other acts included The Chameleons, and local band Dansette Damage.
The venue has more recently been known as Subway City and Tunnel Club however without live music and has a capacity of 1300 across four rooms.
