Venue The Triangle Arts Centre - Aston (Birmingham Arts Lab)
The Triangle was located in Gosta Green right in the middle of Aston University and the Birmingham Institute for Art & Design. It started life as the fabled experimental Arts Lab group, members of whom would go on to create great things in Theatre and Audio Visual disciplines. It also housed the wonderful and much missed Triangle Cinema.
But it was as a live music venue that it was probably best known. In my memory, it was great venue and played host to some brilliant indie bands in the mid 80’s.
The venue was re-named 'The Triangle Media and Arts Centre' in 1983 but closed when funding was removed in 1987, however the cinema survived until 1994. The building now houses faculties of Aston University.
